Apella NV. (12/2004-2013)

Apella NV. is a company dedicated to the internet. As one of the main partners (3), I have the leading roles in the development and commercialisation of projects. The largest project is a music distribution platform containing 4 websites. The database contains over 15.000 tracks by more then 4.500 artists. I'm responsable for the technical side, the long-term strategy (new markets) and commercial deals including deals with radio-stations and advertising agencies. The main portals of the 3X-network is Dance-Industries. Dance-Industries allow users to freely and legally download their favourite style of music.

DP Europe (10/2003-06/2006)

DP Europe (Altran Group) is specialized in providing consulting and engineering in information technology and telecommunication and works with the biggest ICT accounts in Belgium.

I work for them on a 1 day a week schedule. My company role is assistant marketing and internal developer. Projects and papers include:

• Knowledge Base
  This tool allows consultants and managers to quickly find information (doc, pdf, ...) about a topic or a project. The project is custom built in php with a mysql database. There is an automatic properties extraction functionality and an full text search option (Swish-e) which searches through pdf, word, excel and powerpoint documents.
• DP Europe Intranet
  This is an CMS/intranet that is actually used by consultants and managers containing the lastest news, a forum and calendar, etc. It is built on a Xoops engine (php/mysql) with extensions and a lot of custom development.
• ProMan
  A project reference manager, custom build with (php/mysql) to suit the needs of the company.
• ICT Trends
  The ICT trends is a 20 pages long paper on ICT trends in Belgium and worldwide. It has been updated several times to be synchronized with new technologies and recent market trends.
• SOA
  A paper about the trend of 2005, Service Oriented Architecture.
• An introduction to banking
  A paper on the basic activities of banks.
• BASEL II
  A paper on BASEL II, a revision of the framework that will strengthen the soundness and stability of the international banking system while maintaining sufficient consistency that capital adequacy regulation will not be a significant source of competitive inequality among internationally active banks.

  A paper on Sarbanes-Oxley, a US law strenghtening Corprate Governance and restoring investor confidence.

iTeam (12/2004-12/2005)

iTeam is a think tank of young creatives focussed on mobile tv ( DVB-h, 3G ) where iTeam manages projects for several European broadcasters. On a side track they develop SMS and MMS services for SME. As one of the people responsible for the SMS and MMS activities I developed the following projects

  de Zoekkrant is a website where people can send SMS and picture MMS messages to post a new personal advertisement or react to messages.

  An SMS/MMS engine and website for the immo-world.
• Body and Health Culture
  Webportal (English and Dutch version) about body and health.

VJ - Visual Jockey

I was resident VJ (Visual Jockey, projections) at following nightclubs and events.

• Club Mystique
  In the beginning of 2004 Club Mystique (ex-Atmoz Vosselaar) was the hottest club in Belgium with resident DJ's Regi (Milk Inc.) and Wout (Sylver).
• Nosotros
  At Nosotros (ex-Club Famous), West-Flanders biggest club, I was resident VJ (and LJ) on friday, saturday and of the Tuning Beats concept.
• Parties
  I was VJ at VTK Lentefuif (2x, Vooruit Ghent), OLVA Galabal.

Dancetrippin

Dancetrippin is the leading online resource for videos and information about Europe’s most exciting parties. With a crew of experienced cameramen they unobtrusively film the hottest dance events in places like Amsterdam, Ibiza, Antwerp, and Berlin. Using an audio feed directly from the DJ’s mixer, they edit each party into a 30 minute voyeuristic experience of the event, featuring superstars such as Junior Sanchez, DJ Sneak, Bob Sinclar, Roger Sanchez, Ken Ishii, DJ Jean, and many more. My dancetrippin work:

• Cityparade
  For the Cityparade of 2003 I created a live video-webstream of the parade through the streets of Ghent. This application was created with Flash Communication Server Technology and was capable of sending 100 casts at the same time. The same technology has been used to do a live video-broadcast from a Belgian disco.
• Consulting
  I'm their Belgian contact and provide them with information and contacts within the Belgian dance-, TV- and mobile-industry.

Extra-curricular involvement

Tai Chi

I practice the ancient martial art Tai Chi. I used to be an assistant trainer. You can see my trainer and myself in action on the site of my trainer and in the book "TAI CHI CHUAN THE COMPLETE MARTIAL ART". I'm the guy that gets the beating but that was not always the case in international tournaments:

• 3rd place Flemish All Style Championships –65kg, a semi-contact martial arts tournament in Bruges 1996.
• 1st place International Open Tui Shou Tournament -70kg, a martial arts tournament in The Netherlands 2000.

VTK (Alumni)

During my studies as civil engineer I was active in VTK Ghent (Vlaamse Technische Kring), the official student association for civil engineering. Later on I became active in the alumni association of VTK. Work done so far ...

  I created the website and a cv-database application and was involved in the day-to-day practical business.
• IAESTE (2002-2003)
  After the return of my IAESTE-training I got involved in the day-to-day business of IAESTE Ghent as one of the 4 key-players who led a large team (+20). Biggest accomplishment is the creation of a multi-purpose webportal (php and mysql) for the collection of sponsorships and vacancies for foreign trainees. This tool was presented to all other IAESTE member countries as a "how to succesfully collect vacancies"-tool.
